Made by Paint Chalk & Clay paint is an Australian made product. It is SAFE, NON-TOXIC & ECO-FRIENDLY making it ideal for painting furniture. Being water based, clean up is no fuss!

SURFACE PREPARATION -

Simply ensure your piece is clean and free from any flaking paint, dirt, dust, grease or mould. In most cases, you will not need to sand prior as this paint is designed to take the prep work out and adheres well to most timber surfaces! UNLESS your piece has a very glossy surface such as laminate or french polish. In this case, you would need to give the piece a light sand prior, but no need to strip it back completely! (Hooray).

DIRECTIONS -

Stir well with a broad flat stirrer. Pour the paint out into a smaller container and reseal the tin. If a washed look is desired, thin the paint with water. If a thicker paint is needed, leave the lid off overnight. The paint will thicken over time with exposure to air. Thin from time to time with a small quantity of water to maintain it’s original consistency.

APPLICATION -

Use a good quality bristle brush to apply the paint, or purchase one of our brushes for an even more professional finish. For a really smooth, soft finish, LIGHTLY sand in between coats which will also eliminate any paint drips or unwanted material. (Use a fine grit sand paper or pad for this).

Chalk paint is touch-dry within 30 minutes and you can re-coat after 1-2 hours depending on temperatures.

Generally only 2 coats will be required, but an extra may be needed for really light colours with less pigment. Lightly sand the final coat if necessary and seal with our non toxic topcoat wax.

COVERAGE -

A little goes quite a long way - for example, i used a 250ml can to complete a small chest of drawers which was approx 700mm wide x 450mm deep x 800mm high and there was a little left over. I have completed two large buffet cabinets before using 1 litre of paint.

If you have any questions at all or need advice, please get in touch via email.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to different monitor settings, it is difficult to get a totally true idea on the colour of the paint without seeing it in person so please allow for a very slight variance in colours.
